CAREC Project Office in Turkmenistan

The CAREC representative office in Turkmenistan was created as a project office on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding between CAREC and the National Institute of Deserts of Plant and Animal World of the Ministry of Nature Protection of Turkmenistan, signed on April 25, 2014 (interagency agreement).

Goal

Representing CAREC in Turkmenistan and fulfilling the CAREC mission in accordance with the CAREC Charter.

Objectives

2. Strengthening the capacity of local specialists and experts in the best practices of international expertise, knowledge, advanced technologies in the field of environmental protection and creating conditions for their implementation in Turkmenistan and the countries of Central Asia;

3. Increasing the role of civil society in activities to ensure sustainable development in Turkmenistan and initiating new projects.

4. Development of partnerships and strengthening of intersectoral interaction in the implementation of environmental projects between government organizations, ministries and departments, executive authorities and management, educational and academic structures, NGOs, local communities, the private sector and donor organizations;

5. Attracting innovations, projects, best international practices, knowledge and technologies in the environmental sector in Turkmenistan by strengthening the capacity of local specialists, experts, researchers and academic networks and promoting their implementation in Turkmenistan and Central Asian countries;

6. Institutional development of the CAREC project office, expanding public awareness through involvement in environmental activities and capacity-building;
