Publication date: 15 May 2025

Ashgabat, Turkmenistan – May 14, 2025 – The Central Asia Climate Change Conference (CACCC-2025) has completed its work.

For two days, participants discussed climate finance mechanisms, regional cooperation, preparations for COP-30, and the development of sustainable solutions in the agriculture, energy, and water sectors.

The conference featured plenary sessions, thematic panels, and parallel discussions covering a broad range of topics — from sustainable water and land resource management to the role of civil society, youth, and innovative climate solutions. Participants reviewed progress on Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs 3.0), the implementation of transparency frameworks, and the development of regional strategies for climate change adaptation.

One of the key outcomes of the conference was the presentation of a draft final document outlining recommendations to strengthen regional cooperation, scale up climate finance, and enhance institutional capacity.

CACCC-2025 confirmed the readiness of the region’s countries to respond jointly to climate challenges, demonstrating a high level of coordination among government bodies, the scientific community, and international partners.

The Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC), in partnership with the Government of Turkmenistan and with the support of the World Bank, the Central Asia Water and Energy Program (CAWEP), the RESILAND CA+ Program, and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), organized the conference, which served as a key regional platform for developing coordinated climate solutions.
