The Сentre of Excellence and Scientific Research will be established in Tashkent

The Сentre will be established within Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers (TIIAME) and the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC). Memorandum was signed by the Rector of TIIAME Mr. Uktam Umurzakov and Executive Director of CAREC Dr. Iskandar Abdullaev at the premises of the institute.

“This is very important occasion for our Institute, we are glad to be one of the first universities in Uzbekistan to sign such MoU with CAREC that has a great experience in implementation of international projects”, said Mr. Umurzakov. “Ecology is a very important component of development of any country in 21st century. We hope MoU is just the beginning of a huge work to be done in our country. And the first step of cooperation within MoU is the establishment of the Сentre of Excellence and Scientific Research.

The main points of MoU are aimed to unite the efforts for implementation of project and programs in the sphere of water and land management, to reach the sustainable results by strengthening the potential of students, researchers, young scientists. Special attention is paid to resource mobilization, institutional and technical development, introduction of modern skills to implement scientific and research activities with further publishing of the results in international editions, as well as project management with fund-raising.

“Using this experience of Uzbekistan, we plan to make the Centre a regional organization”, commented Dr. Abdullaev. “The Centre has all chances to become the new role-model for efficient use of development aid. Uzbekistan has many projects on water resources. A group of specialists is usually hired for implementation, and when the project comes to an end, the elaborated knowledge and experience are lost. International projects are the source of knowledge, and it is crucially important to not just use it but also to reproduce, to spread further, providing sustainable development. TIIAME is one of the leading universities in Central Asia in equipment, scientific and pedagogical capacity. That is why we decided together to establish such new platform. In the future, it will unite other universities, international organizations, ministries, agencies related to water resources. The universities will be both the direct receivers of knowledge and active participants of project implementation.”

The main objective of this Centre is the sustainable transfer of proven skills, establishment the connection between the results of projects and the educational process. Teachers and students will be able to professionally learn project management on the basis of the Centre.

Uzbekistan pays great attention to the implementation of international projects aimed at socio-economic development of the country and partner relations with international organizations and scientific and pedagogical organizations. There is an active work being held for wide introduction of international experience into learning process, especially based on know-how, professional development of perspective teachers and young scientists of these organizations, involvement of students into production process.
