Experts of Central Asia, CAREC and the World Bank will discuss issues of reinforcement of regional cooperation in the field of low-carbon development in the framework of the international exhibition EXPO 2017
Leading experts in the field of low-carbon development will discuss opportunities and prospects of cooperation of the Central Asian countries on the transition to low-carbon development in the panel discussion organized by CAREC and the World Bank in the framework EXPO 2017.
Most of the existing strategies and plans on «green economy» in the Central Asian countries represent individual policies of each country. However, according to experts, individual approaches will not be able to provide necessary sustainable and comprehensive growth of a country and region in the long term without taking into account interests and needs of neighboring countries.
Concrete mechanisms of cooperation, successful practices and strategies in this direction will be discussed in the panel discussion «Low-carbon development in Central Asia and opportunities for regional cooperation».
The main goal of discussions is to demonstrate the existing approaches and inspire Central Asian countries for joint actions aimed at reinforcing regional cooperation in the field of low-carbon development, and highlight the role of business in supporting education for sustainable development (ESD), green technologies, skills and competencies of young people.
National experts from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, as well as international experts including the World Bank, Nazarbayev University, Samsung Central Eurasia and CAREC will take part in the discussion.
9:00 am – 12:00 noon
