The Third Central Asia Climate Change Conference (CACCC 2020) will be held online on October 19-23, 2020. The objective of the conference is to strengthen a regional dialogue on climate change and sustainable development through the information and knowledge exchange in Central Asia. A series of our publications will be dedicated to the speakers of the upcoming event. And, today, we would like to introduce you to Ms. Nurzat Abyrasylova, Founder and President of UNISON Group. Her presentation on the role of NGOs and local communities in the dissemination of climate change knowledge will take place at the thematic session of the third day of CACCC 2020, October 21, 2020.

Speaker

Ms. Nurzat Abdyrasylova is a Founder and President of UNISON Group with over 18 years of professional experience in the areas of energy efficiency, climate change, sustainable development and good governance with a proven track of more than 40 transregional projects realized featuring her participation or patronage.

Ms. Abdyraulova is acting Chairman of the Kyrgyzstan Association “Green Alliance”, which unites 50 civil society, SME and academic organizations, working on sustainable development issues. She is former Chairman of the Climate Network of Kyrgyzstan and acting member of the Central Asian Regional Network of Civil Society organizations on Climate Change established with the support from the CAMP4ASB project and well known for her role of leadership for Civil Society networks development.

Ms. Abdyrasulova is not only a renowned professional and executive leader in the Energy industry and Energy Sector Governance of the Kyrgyz Republic with institutional support but also a devoted opinion leader in the green economy and climate change and a lawmaker in renewable energy systems, energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.

Besides the projects related to Energy Efficiency Financing instruments, since 2002 Nurzat haуыs also been actively involved in boosting policy dialogue and guiding government leaders to adopt good governance practices into the core of their government plans, agendas and policies that help restore public trust and increase transparency and accountability in the energy sector.

Along the same lines, Nurzat has outstanding international networking and large-scale project management skills for instance for EBRD 55 million USD Kyrgyz Sustainable Energy Efficiency Financing Facility (KyrSEFF) on her role of the Team Leader and has proved good experience of Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF) product distribution. She has an excellent knowledge of innovative energy-saving technologies and their application in the Central Asia region.

Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Program for Aral Sea Basin or CAMP4ASB is implemented by CAREC and financed by the World Bank. Project aims to enhance regionally coordinated access to improved climate change knowledge services for key stakeholders (e.g., policy makers, communities, and civil society) in participating Central Asian countries as well as to increased investments and capacity building that, combined, will address climate challenges common to these countries.CAMP4ASB is implemented in Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan during the period from 2016 to 2021.
