The Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC) conducts consistent activities to unite common efforts to develop Kazakhstan’s policy for UNFCCC COP26 with the participation of the representatives of ministries, departments, international organizations, and expert community focusing on issues of climate and environmental policy, green technologies, and environment protection. To present a draft of the regional statement of Central Asian countries for COP26 is developed. Supposedly, the statement will attract attention not only to the progress but to the challenges including financing issues, adaptation, new technologies implementation at the next UNFCCC COP. As noted by the Executive Director of CAREC, Zafar Makhmudov, CAREC's activities in preparation for UNFCCC COP26 are being carried out by the wishes and requests of countries to conduct a permanent regional dialogue to increase its “visibility” in global climate negotiations. “CAREC promotes the political dialogue and capacity-building of the national delegations of the countries of the region to participate in the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change,” said Zafar Makhmudov. He noted that the issues of the UNFCCC COP26 will be discussed at the Fourth Central Asian Conference on Climate Change (CACCC-2021) in Dushanbe.
