Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of Uzbekistan and CAREC signed an agreement on implementation of water projects

February 1, 2017, Tashkent, the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources (MAWR) of the Republic of Uzbekistan and CAREC signed an agreement on implementation of two projects in Uzbekistan – Smart Waters and Water Cooperation in Central Asia. The agreement was signed by Mr. Shavkat Khamraev, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources of Uzbekistan and Mr. Iskandar Abdullaev, Executive Director of CAREC.


About the projects

The Smart Waters project is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and aims to improve the education and training system for specialists from water sector, to establish working relations between water resources managers, and to promote basin planning approach to water resources management, supporting regional academic exchange. The Water Cooperation in Central Asia project, funded by the European Union, aims to strengthen regional water cooperation, study and demonstrate best national, regional and international practices, strengthen cooperation on environmental and sustainable development issues in Central Asia, promotion of innovative methods and practices for effective water management.
