General information

Background:

The project builds on the need to further deepen gender-sensitive approaches in water resources management and to strengthen the role of women in water diplomacy. Despite notable progress, Central Asia and Afghanistan continue to face a shortage of women’s participation in water-related decision-making processes, which limits the effectiveness of cooperation and the sustainability of water management outcomes.

Enhancing the competencies of women professionals, expanding their involvement in negotiations and mediation, and integrating gender perspectives into intergovernmental and cross-sectoral cooperation remain critical priorities.

Phase III focuses on advancing inclusive water governance mechanisms, developing a sustainable network of women experts, and strengthening the leadership capacities of women to support conflict prevention and water security in the region.

Objective:

·        To enhance the capacities of women professionals in water diplomacy, negotiation, mediation, peacebuilding, and conflict prevention, and to raise stakeholders’ awareness of the impacts of climate change on transboundary water management, including gender dimensions.

Tasks:

·        Conduct monthly trainings and workshops to jointly build capacities, exchange knowledge, expertise, and skills among women professionals in the field of water resources management.

·        Support the career development of women water experts and expand cooperation in the area of water resources.
