Stakeholder meeting of the project for the Regional Climate Action Transparency Hub for Central Asia (ReCATH).

Today in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, a multi-stakeholder meeting on the project "Regional Climate Action Transparency Hub for Central Asia" (ReCATH) will take place in a hybrid format.

The meeting will take place within the framework of the two-day conference "Central Asian Dialogue on Climate Finance Readiness through Cooperation and Partnership". The event will be attended by UNFCCC focal points, representatives of national authorities from Central Asian countries, international and expert community, environmental agencies and financial institutions.

The purpose of the meeting is to present the project to a wide range of stakeholders, introduce the activities of the Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT), highlight climate reporting transparency issues and the implementation of countries' obligations outlined in the Paris Agreement.

In building and implementing ambitious Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) plans, Central Asian countries' commitments must be based on reliable data and information to support national policies that sustain the necessary actions. The tools offered by ICAT to ensure transparency shape national ownership, promote the involvement of relevant stakeholders in policy processes and accountability at national and international levels, and ensure policy and financial efficiency.

Background information on the project:

The Regional Climate Action Transparency Hub for Central Asia (ReCATH) project is an implementation of the Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT) and has been implemented by CAREC since November 2021. The agreement to establish the Centre was signed in Glasgow at the twenty-sixth session of the UNFCCC Conference of the Parties (COP26).

The Initiative supports countries in developing their capacity to establish and manage a robust and transparent framework that enables them to effectively implement the Paris Agreement. To this end, ICAT has created a toolkit with methodologies and transparency modelling tools that can be adapted to countries' needs. Activities include direct support to countries and the establishment of regional support centres and networks, such as the Climate Action Transparency Centre for Central Asian countries.
