As part of the Tajikistan Resilient Landscape Restoration Project (RESILAND Tajikistan), a specialized training was held in Dushanbe in September 2026, focusing on modern approaches to conducting the National Forest Inventory and the use of digital tools for forest resource management.
The training was organized as part of activities related to conducting the National Forest Inventory based on the Forest Inventory Map of the Republic of Tajikistan and was held at the State Unitary Enterprise “Aerogeodesy-Dushanbe”.
The training brought together specialists from the Center for Implementation of Investment Projects and the Agency for Forestry under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. The training sessions were conducted by specialists from the State Unitary Enterprise “Aerogeodesy-Dushanbe” and UWD.
The training programme included several thematic modules covering modern forest inventory methods, spatial analysis, remote sensing, mapping, and digitalization of forest management.
During Module I, held from 14 to 18 September, participants studied the application of laser scanning and the digital forest management tool (Smart Forest Tool) in forest inventory, as well as modern approaches to data collection and processing. On 21 September, specialists received training on forest area zoning and the collection of field data using tablets.
Module II focused on forest mapping and data preparation. Participants learned spatial data analysis using QGIS, web GIS and geoportal technologies, as well as the basics of remote sensing.
Module III focused on the development of forest management plans for forest areas and the use of field data in planning.
A separate area of the programme was Module IV — “Digitalization and Use of the Forest Information System (IT Literacy)”, aimed at developing specialists’ skills in digital technologies and information systems.
The training contributes to strengthening specialists’ practical skills and expanding the use of modern digital tools for collecting, analyzing, and using forest information, which is important for conducting the National Forest Inventory in Tajikistan.
The Tajikistan Resilient Landscape Restoration Project (RESILAND Tajikistan) Project is implemented with the support of the World Bank. The Project aims to increase the area under sustainable landscape management in selected areas of Tajikistan and promote cooperation between Tajikistan and Central Asian countries on transboundary landscape restoration.

The Tajikistan Resilient Landscapes Restoration Project is part of the World Bank’s RESILAND CA+ program, aimed at strengthening landscape resilience across Central Asian countries. Similar national and regional activities are also being implemented in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
The Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) implements the regional component of the Tajikistan Resilient Landscape Restoration Project.
