Innovative Online 11th Central Asian Leadership Programme preparations on Environment for Sustainable Development (CALP) enter final phase!

Think globally, act locally, cooperate regionally!

The 11th Central Asian Leadership Programme on Environment for Sustainable Development is scheduled to take place from the 14th to 18th September 2020. This year, CALP as an input to the “Year of Volunteer in Kazakhstan”, will go completely online amid the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The CALP agenda will reflect the main focus on environmental challenges in the context of sustainable development, including environmental innovation, cooperation in water management, climate issues, disaster risk reduction, as well as the impact of the global pandemic on the development of Central Asia and Afghanistan.

The 11th CALP is aimed at building an action-oriented regional platform for youth dialogue to provide the latest innovative solutions to environmental challenges.

Nearly 40 advanced professionals from Central Asia and Afghanistan, representing governments, non-governmental organizations and academic community, were selected for participating in the 11th CALP.

The Leadership programme 2020 is organized in cooperation with UN Environment Programme and with financial support of OSCE Programme Office in Nur-Sultan, US Agency for International Development (USAID), World Bank, European Union and OSCE Secretariat in Vienna.

Slogan of the 11th CALP: “Advanced mid-level professionals of Central Asia and Afghanistan – for the regional cooperation, environmental leadership and volunteering!”

This year, it is important for CAREC and CALP partners to demonstrate the best examples of volunteering and leadership of youth and inputs of CALP alumni in a variety of areas, including environmental protection, education and healthcare in the aspect of recovery after the COVID-19 crisis.”
