UNFCCC COP28: Green pitching for Central Asia

Dubai – UAE – The side event entitled «Green pitching for Central Asia: investment in sustainable development and climate resilience» took place on December 3, 2023.

Its primary objective is to promote green initiatives in Central Asia that attract investment and foster sustainable development while enhancing climate resilience in the region.

The side event presented innovative and sustainable projects that can address climate change challenges while driving economic growth.

The event highlighted the region's role in contributing to global climate action, as its sustainable development can serve as a model for other parts of the world facing similar challenges. In this context, the green pitching event aims to facilitate collaboration, foster innovation, and catalyze investments in Central Asia's green and resilient future.

The Green Pitching session followed a TEDx-inspired format, focusing on such thematic blocks as energy, water, biodiversity, sustainable agriculture, and sustainable infrastructure. They cover important aspects of green investments and climate resilience.

The representative organizations from each CA country held series interesting presentations that will open the window to investment possibilities in their respective region. In addition, each of the Central Asian countries presented 1-2 pitches - eco-innovative ideas and solutions for managing water resources, energy, biodiversity, sustainable agriculture, and sustainable infrastructure, which can be applied in the presenting countries.

Central Asia Pavilion “5 countries – 1 region – 1 voice” is organized by the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) in cooperation with the Governments of Central Asian countries under financial support of the GIZ, OSCE, the World Bank, USAID, the European Union, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
