13 CALP: OSCE Model to Respond to Climate Challenges

Publication date: 03 October 2023

OSCE Expert and International Negotiations Conflict Management Consultant Ida Manton presented the Negotiating, Managing Conflicts and Decision-Making OSCE Model to the participants of the 13th Central Asian Leadership Program on Environment for Sustainable Development (CALP).

The CALP participants – 15 young professionals of the Central Asian ministries of agriculture, ecology, water resources and energy and representatives of green business and civil society of CAS – studied in practice the EEF Simulation “Environmental Cooperation for Regional Security”.

This Simulation comprises various methods and approaches to negotiations on addressing environmental issues at the state and interstate levels.

The participants did a number of practical assignments to stimulate negotiations at plenary sessions and in form of bilateral and informal talks. They developed the Draft Document on Environmental Governance as a result of the stimulated negotiations based on EEF Stimulation.

CALP is organized by the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) in cooperation with the OSCE Programme Office in Astana, the World Bank, the Secretariat of the High-Level Dialogue Platform of the Swiss Blue Peace Central Asia Initiative and Coca-Cola.
