Today the 6th SWITCH-Asia annual meeting launched in Almaty on the eve of the Central Asia Climate Change Conference (CACCC-2024).
The meeting will last until May 21 and includes Programme Steering Committee, Internal Meetings with EU Delegations, Meeting of the SWITCH-Asia Grant Projects, Annual Conference.
The meeting participants discuss the development and implementation of SCP, the circular economy.
Objectives:
- Exchange ideas and share insights on developing and mainstreaming SCP and circular economy practices, including through existing regional knowledge hubs, targeted communication efforts, and engagement of key stakeholders.
- To offer the stakeholders of the Programme an opportunity to discuss, plan and innovate together towards joint multi-country SCP initiatives in the framework of the PSC.
- To facilitate development of ideas for future technical assistance of the SWITCH-Asia Policy Support Component (PSC).
Let’s recall that over 130 participants from Europe, Asia and the Pacific region are expected at the conference, including representatives of ongoing projects funded by SWITCH-Asia, representatives of government agencies, regional organizations, experts in the field of sustainable consumption and production (SCP). The main objective of this conference is to summarize the results of the work done and discuss plans for the future. The conference participants will be able to fully discuss the implementation of SCP and circular economy practices, share their experiences and create innovative solutions in the field of SCP.
The REAP project is implemented by an international consortium under financial support of the European Union. The consortium comprises the National Association of Small and Medium Businesses of Tajikistan (NAMSB), the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan (CCIUz), the German Consulting Office adelphi, the Association for the Promotion of Recycling and Environmental Protection in Austria (AREC), STENUM Asia Sustainable Development Society (STENUM Asia), and the Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). The consortium is led by the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC).
