On 11 February 2026, a meeting was held at the head office of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) between CAREC’s Executive Director, Batyr Mammedov, and the team of the Regional Programme “Integrative and Climate-Sensitive Land Use in Central Asia” of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, led by Programme Manager Daniel Gerecke.
During the meeting, both sides discussed recent trends and initiatives in CAREC’s activities, as well as broader developments across Central Asia. The parties also explored new prospects for development and potential areas of cooperation, including climate-resilient land use, strengthening regional cooperation, knowledge exchange, and improving livelihoods in the region.
Batyr Mammedov reaffirmed CAREC’s commitment to supporting new large-scale regional initiatives that leverage CAREC’s regional platform and unique mandate to advance environmental cooperation and bring new expertise to Central Asia.
