The Third Central Asia Climate Change Conference (CACCC 2020) will be held online on October 19-23, 2020. The conference's objective is to strengthen a regional dialogue on climate change and sustainable development through the information and knowledge exchange in Central Asia. A series of our publications will be dedicated to the speakers of the upcoming event. Today, we would like to introduce you to Dr. Kendrovski. His joint presentation with Massimo Cozzone “Addressing environment, climate change and health in the COVID-19 pandemic: a perspective from WHO Regional Office for Europe” will occur on October 19, 2020, as part of the CACCC 2020 first day’s thematic session.

Speaker

Dr. Vladimir Kendrovski is a medical doctor and specialist in hygiene and environment and health. He works as a technical officer for climate change and health in the WHO Regional Office for Europe.

Within the Water and Climate Programme in WHO European Centre for Environment and Health in Bonn, Germany Dr. Kendrovski provides an expert’s input to team projects and tasks in the area of climate change adaptation. He provides and facilitates access of the Member States to technical expertise and programmes enhancing their climate change health risk assessment and management capacities. He also assists Member States of the WHO European Region in the development and implementation of policies in relation to climate change, extreme events and health issues. He promotes training and national capacity development on climate change and health.

Before joining the World Health Organization in 2012, Dr. Kendrovski was an Associate Professor in the Department of Hygiene and Environmental Health, Medical Faculty, University Cyril and Methodius in Skopje, Republic of North Macedonia.

He also served eight years as Head of Sector for Environmental Health at the National Institute for Public Health, and during this time was President of the Institute’s Executive Board from 2009 to 2012.

Also, he was a member of the ECDC Advisory Board from 2010 to 2012 and a national expert for the EFSA and WHO IHR. Dr. Kendrovski was President of the Macedonian National Association of Environmental Health specialists from 2007-2012, an editor in chief of the Macedonian journal Archives of Public Health (2009-2012). Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Program for Aral Sea Basin or CAMP4ASB is implemented by CAREC and financed by the World Bank. Project aims to enhance regionally coordinated access to improved climate change knowledge services for key stakeholders (e.g., policy makers, communities, and civil society) in participating Central Asian countries as well as to increased investments and capacity building that, combined, will address climate challenges common to these countries.CAMP4ASB is implemented in Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan during the period from 2016 to 2021.
