President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, speaking on July 10 at an enlarged meeting of the Government, noted that it is necessary to introduce a new subject in schools for children dedicated to environmental education. “Look what is being done, people leave behind hundreds of kilograms, if not tons of household waste. This is the absence of a common culture. For a number of years, people have not been explained that nature cannot be polluted in such way. "

Therefore, environmental education is very relevant today. It is necessary to pay more attention to children with respect to nature and teach them not only what and how to take from nature, but also what we must give to our nature.

CAREC's presentation was dedicated to the International Processes in Environmental Education and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD): UN Decade on ESD, UNECE Strategy on ESD, Global Action Program on ESD, Agenda 2030 and SDGs" and their promotion by CAREC in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.

As noted by UNESCO, “Education is the most effective tool that society has to face the challenges of the future. It is education that will shape the world tomorrow” (Education for a Sustainable Future: An Interdisciplinary View for Concrete Action, UNESCO, 1997).

CAREC is an active participant of the international processes and networks on eco-education and education for sustainable development. From 2003 to the present day, CAREC, in cooperation with national and international partners and donors, has been carrying out various projects in the field of environmental education and ESD. CAREC is ready to share our experience of international cooperation and assist in the adaptation of existing educational materials and courses on ecology and sustainable development previously developed by CAREC and partners.
