Strengthening Cooperation: Ministry of Natural Resources of the Kyrgyz Republic and CAREC

The Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic, Meder Mashiev, and the Executive Director of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC), Batyr Mammedov, discussed key areas of bilateral cooperation during a working meeting in Bishkek on August 26, 2025.

 

he meeting at the Ministry of Natural Resources was also attended by Deputy Minister Asel Raimkulova, Head of the Climate Policy Department Aizada Barieva, as well as representatives of CAREC.

Minister Meder Mashiev congratulated Batyr Mammedov on the 25th anniversary of CAREC and highlighted the organization’s significant contribution to strengthening regional environmental cooperation.

During the discussions, the parties addressed the enhancement of cooperation between CAREC and the Ministry through authorized agencies and the CAREC Country Sustainability Group.

Particular attention was given to the preparation and hosting of the Central Asia Climate Change Conference (CACCC) in 2026–2027, as well as to the joint organization of an official side event at the 30th Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP30).

The participants also discussed supporting the activities of CAREC’s branch office in the Kyrgyz Republic and jointly implementing initiatives under the World Bank’s One Health Program.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in order to promote sustainable development, climate resilience, and environmental security across Central Asia.
