CACCC-2025: Central Asian Journalists Gear Up to Cover Climate Change

Publication date: 06 May 2025

In the lead-up to the Central Asia Climate Change Conference (CACCC-2025), Central Asia Water and Energy Program (CAWEP) has launched a special media training for journalists and content creators across Central Asia.

The training, which runs from May 5 to 12 and is titled "Climate Change: Content Diversity and Target Audiences," includes online webinars, hands-on training sessions, and mentoring support to enhance participants' ability to communicate climate issues effectively.

Led by experienced media trainers and climate experts—including Irina Chistyakova, Marat Sadykov, Olga Dobrovidova, and Alexey Kokorin—the sessions cover topics such as science-based storytelling, audience engagement and the use of AI tools in content production. The program also includes content planning (pre-production), fieldwork preparation, and techniques for working with data and visuals.

Training sessions are held online and on-site in Almaty and Ashgabat. During the conference, participants will produce original interviews, stories, and multimedia content aimed at raising public awareness of climate issues in Central Asia.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen climate communication and foster a new generation of informed and impactful climate storytellers in the region.
