Training of trainers on basin planning in Almaty

March 29-31, 2017, Almaty – CAREC holds a Training of trainers on basin planning for representatives of training centers and Institutes of Advanced Training of Central Asian countries and Afghanistan.

The main purpose of the training – capacity building towards water cooperation and IWRM through the transfer of coaching skills in synergy with basin planning methodology to a group of potential trainers.

Within 2,5 days the training will present the 5 main blocks on gradual development of basin plans, as well as the particular training techniques applicable for further use and dissemination. The Training will be conducted on the basis of the Handbook on basin planning, which was developed by CAREC with the support of GIZ programme “Transboundary water management in Central Asia” (TWMCA) in 2014 towards dissemination of knowledge and ensuring the sustainability of results of the GIZ TWMCA programme. 

The Training of trainers will be held in the framework of the “Smart Waters” project implementation, which aims to address the knowledge dis-lock in the region in water sector, build working relations among water managers and specialists, and demonstrate the potential of the basin management approach and cooperation with the academia.

Objectives of the Training:

Teach the methodology of basin planning to representatives of the training centers and Institutes of Advanced Training;

Teach the training techniques to representatives of the training centers and Institutes of Advanced Training;

Form a group of potential trainers who will further be able to conduct trainings on basin planning at the pilot territories of the “Smart Waters” and other CAREC projects;

Transfer the developed training materials to Institutes of Advanced Training of Central Asian countries and Afghanistan for further use in order to ensuring the sustainability of project results.
