Publication date: 20 October 2025

The Executive Director of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC), Batyr Mammedov, participated in the 2025 Annual General Meeting  of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED-2025). This year, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) focused on the special policy study “Global Climate Governance and Green and Inclusive Transition”, which aims to provide technical support for climate policy development during China's 15th Five-Year Development Period and facilitate decision-making on the country's participation in international climate cooperation and COP30.

During a meeting with representatives, Batyr Mammedov thanked the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People’s Republic of China and the CCICED Secretariat for their “continued leadership in promoting dialogue on global environmental and development challenges.” He noted that CCICED had become “a bridge between China and the world in the pursuit of sustainable development.”

Batyr Mammedov outlined three areas for closer CAREC–CCICED collaboration: joint policy research, green technology and capacity building, and youth engagement for environmental leadership.

He concluded that the Annual General Meeting’s theme, “Promoting the Green Transformation for a Harmonious Coexistence between Humans and Nature,” reflected both China’s and Central Asia’s shared goal — “to align economic progress with ecological stewardship and ensure prosperity in balance with the natural world.”

The Annual General Meeting of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development was held from October 15 to 17, 2025 in Beijing, PRC.

The forum brought together government officials, international organizations, business leaders, and experts to discuss strategies for sustainable development and advancing the global green transformation.
