CAMP4ASB AF Regional Steering Committee: Information Exchange Platform

June 28, the first meeting of the Regional Steering Committee for the additional financing of the project “Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Program for Aral Sea Basin Additional Financing” (CAMP4ASB AF) will be held online.

The Regional Steering Committee (RSC) will provide advisory support to the participating countries and recommendations concerning the work within the Program. RSC will ensure information exchange and monitoring and serve as a working platform to prepare for the annual missions of the World Bank to optimize joint efforts in achieving the final results of the Program.

“We established the Regional Steering Committee of the project “Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Program for Aral Sea Basin Additional Financing (CAMP4ASB AF)” to be aware of the implementation progress of the national and regional project’s components. The Committee will become an open platform for information exchange about the ongoing activities under the project,” said the Executive Director of the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC), Zafar Makhmudov.

The RSC meetings are scheduled every six months to prepare for the annual missions of the World Bank. Decisions taken at the meetings are recommendations and the basis for streamlining joint efforts to achieve final CAMP4ASB results and indicators at the national and regional levels.

The RSC comprises the project participating countries – Tajikistan and Uzbekistan implementing the national components and the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (EC IFAS) responsible for the regional components with the involvement of CAREC. The Chairperson of the RSC meetings is the CAREC Executive Director.
