Publication date: 09 June 2025

On behalf of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC), we are pleased to invite you to participate in the side event entitled “Accelerating Regional Climate Action: Towards the Regional Environment Summit 2026.” This event serves as a key milestone in the preparatory process for the upcoming Regional Environment Summit and provides a platform to spotlight critical climate initiatives across the region that warrant greater attention and support.

Date: 20 June 2025
Time: 15:00–16:15 (CET)
Venue: Bonn, Germany, within the official programme of SB62 (UNFCCC)
Format: In-person
Working Language: English

The side event is jointly organized by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC), and the Project Office for Central Asia on Climate Change and Green Energy of the Central Asia Climate Foundation.

As part of the broader lead-up to the Regional Environment Summit (RES 2026), which will be hosted by Kazakhstan, this session will highlight key outcomes of regional dialogues held across Central Asia in 2025, present national and regional climate priorities, and define expectations and strategic directions for RES 2026.

Special attention will be given to the region’s contribution to the Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA) and to progress under the Baku–Belem Roadmap, aiming to mobilize $1.3 trillion by 2030 for climate action. These collective efforts are vital to advancing a Just Energy Transition, achieving meaningful mitigation results, and enhancing climate resilience across Central Asia.

We believe your participation will add significant value to this important dialogue, contributing to stronger regional coordination and more impactful climate action.

Kindly confirm your participation by 9 June 2025 by contacting:
