
On October 13, 2025, a two-day Second Regional Dialogue on “Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) and the Circular Economy (CE) in Central Asia" started in Almaty. The event was organized by the SWITCH-Asia Program in cooperation with the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC) and brought together representatives of the European Union, parliaments, government agencies, international organizations and experts from Central Asian countries.
The Turkmenistan delegation includes Mergen Kepbanov, Director of the CAREC Project Office in Turkmenistan, and representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan — parliamentarians actively engaged in discussing national progress in the field of circular economy: Begench Gurbangeldiyev, Member of the Committee on Economic Affairs, Begenchgeldi Bayrammyradov, Member of the Committee on Economic Affairs, and Orazgeldi Saparov, Member of the Committee on Environmental Protection, Nature Management, and the Agro-Industrial Complex.
Begenchgeldi Bayrammyradov will deliver a presentation on national initiatives and the parliamentary contribution to promoting sustainable consumption and production principles.
Among the participants of the event are also Batyr Mamedov, Executive Director of CAREC, Dustzoda Dilovarsho, Adviser to the Executive Director, Head of programs at CAREC and Yerlan Zhumabayev, Director of the CAREC Country office in the Republic of Kazakhstan. They participate in panel discussions and strategic sessions aimed at developing regional cooperation and developing common approaches to the implementation of the circular economy in Central Asia.
"This dialogue provides an opportunity to discuss practical steps to implement circular solutions, strengthen parliamentary cooperation and exchange experience with neighboring countries," said Mergen Kepbanov, emphasizing the special significance of the event for Turkmenistan and the region.
The dialogue is being held on October 13–14 in Almaty in a hybrid format, featuring discussions at the level of parliamentarians, business representatives, and experts. The event will conclude with recommendations for preparing the Regional Partnership Framework for the Circular Economy, which will be presented at the Central Asian Environmental Summit in 2026.
