Open Dialogue on Careers in Climate and Sustainable Development Held in Almaty

On April 28, an open dialogue titled “How to Build a Career in Climate, Ecology, and Sustainable Development” was held at Narxoz University, bringing together students, young professionals, and environmental experts. The event served as a platform for exchanging experiences, professional inspiration, and discussing career opportunities in the field of sustainable development.

The welcoming speech was delivered by Moldagaziyeva Zhanar, Head of the Educational Program “Environment and Sustainable Development.”

During the meeting, participants learned about the professional journeys of representatives from the public sector, international organizations, business, and environmental associations. Speakers included representatives of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC), the Department of Ecology of Almaty, CCI Kazakhstan (Coca-Cola İçecek), and the KazWaste Association.

Aisha Mukhamedrakhim, Environmental Management Program Specialist at CAREC, spoke about her experience working on international environmental projects, the skills currently in demand in the field of sustainable development, and career growth opportunities in climate and environmental sectors.

The panel discussion and Q&A session attracted particular interest from the audience, focusing on current labor market requirements, professional career paths, and the development of ESG-related fields.

Narxoz University expressed its appreciation to CAREC for its participation and contribution to the open dialogue, highlighting the importance of practical experience and expert presentations for students’ professional orientation.

CAREC continues to support initiatives aimed at advancing environmental education, raising youth awareness, and fostering a new generation of specialists in sustainable development.
