The Eurasian River Basin Management Portal, riverbp.net, is an online platform developed by Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) with the support of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). It brings together a range of information resources, including knowledge products, analytical materials, scientific articles, and online courses dedicated to water resources management. The Portal’s primary objective is to strengthen the capacity of basin and water management organizations in Central Asia and to create a unified space for sharing knowledge, experience, and best practices.
This year, riverbp.net was upgraded and relaunched for users. The updated version offers enhanced functionality, a modern design, and improved navigation, providing convenient access to knowledge and tools in the field of water resources management.
The Portal enables various stakeholders to:
● share best practices in river basin management;
● access up-to-date analytical materials, scientific research, and educational resources;
● undertake online training and enhance their qualifications through specialized courses;
● find partners for joint projects and cross-sectoral cooperation.
The Portal is integrated with the Moodle learning module, which provides a user-friendly environment for completing online courses, tracking learning progress, and accessing educational materials in one place.
The website also features a number of useful sections to help users quickly find the information and resources they need:
● Geodata / Resources – includes pilot areas, GIS maps, best practice maps, WEAP/LEAP models, as well as information on grant projects and other knowledge resources;
● Publications – scientific articles, reports, guidelines, and analytical materials on water resources management;
● Press Center – news, events, opportunities (vacancies, grants, and competitions), and success stories from practice;
● Community of Practice – a directory of members and a platform for discussion and experience exchange among professionals;
● Online Learning – courses, trainings, and lectures on IWRM, water diplomacy, and other related topics;
● Multimedia – videos, podcasts, and photo galleries showcasing portal activities and projects.
In the near future, the Portal will feature up-to-date, practice-oriented courses and trainings on topics such as integrated water resources management (IWRM), river basin planning, water diplomacy, water quality, and other key areas of water resources management.
Users who were previously registered on the portal can restore access to their existing accounts. Those who have not yet registered are encouraged to do so now and be among the first to benefit from the updated portal.
