As part of his first official visit, the new Executive Director of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC), Batyr Mamedov, held a meeting with Serik Bekmaganbetov, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (EC IFAS), on June 4, 2025, in Astana, Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, the parties discussed key areas of cooperation and outlined promising directions for future collaboration. Special attention was given to sustainable development in the Aral Sea region, ecosystem restoration, water resource management, and enhancing community resilience.
The CAREC Executive Director emphasized that strengthening partnerships with IFAS is a crucial element in implementing regional environmental initiatives.
Both parties expressed confidence that coordinated efforts and pooling of resources would contribute to achieving sustainable outcomes and further advancing regional cooperation.
