Nodirbek Rahimjonov Takes Office as Country Director of CAREC Office in Uzbekistan

Nodirbek Rahimjonov, the Country Director of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) in Uzbekistan, took office on 17 February 2025.

Nodirbek Rahimjonov has over 15 years of experience in public administration and sustainable development, with a focus on climate policy, water management, and agriculture.

Throughout his professional career, Nodirbek Rahimjonov has actively participated in the development and implementation of national strategies for climate change mitigation and adaptation. His work has included coordinating the development of strategic documents, monitoring Uzbekistan's compliance with international climate commitments, and ensuring inter-agency cooperation. His achievements include attracting funds from International Financial Institutions/Foreign Governmental Financial Organizations, grants, and technical assistance from donor organizations, as well as participating in international and regional climate initiatives and supporting scientific research in the field of climate change.

In his career, Nodirbek Rahimjonov has held a number of leadership positions, including:

-       Head of the National Strategy Department at the National Center for Climate Change;

-       Independent consultant at the international company Civitta, specializing in sustainable development of the agricultural sector;

-       Consultant to the Ministry of Water Resources of Uzbekistan on public-private partnership projects;

-       Deputy Director for attracting loans and grants at the Center for the Implementation of Foreign Investment Projects in Water Management;

-       Head of the Monitoring and Evaluation Department at the Agency for the Implementation of Agricultural Projects.

During his career, Nodirbek Rahimjonov has made a significant contribution to attracting international financing for the implementation of major infrastructure projects in Uzbekistan with the participation of the Asian Development Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the Islamic Development Bank.

Nodirbek Rahimjonov graduated from Tashkent State University of Economics with a bachelor's degree in "Professional Education (IT)" in 2005 and a master's degree in "Management" in 2008. He speaks Uzbek, Russian, and English.

Throughout his career, Nodirbek Rahimjonov has not only successfully addressed challenges in climate and environmental policy but has also made significant contributions to the development of sustainable agriculture, water management, and the implementation of international investment projects in Uzbekistan.

His rich experience, professional skills, and strategic vision make him a valuable leader in addressing the urgent issues of climate change adaptation and sustainable development of the country.
