UzWaterAware announces contest for the best "Symbol of water and life protection" sculpture sketch

Within UzWaterAware project, with the European Union financial support, CAREC Branch in Uzbekistan announces a contest for residents of Tashkent city and all regions of the Republic to create a sculpture sketch on the theme "Symbol of water and life protection". The contest is timed to the World Water Day, which is held annually on March 22 to draw global attention to the problems of water resources on Earth.

“Each of us is a water consumer in a various scale. Someone uses water in agriculture, another uses only in everyday life, at work or for other purposes. We hope that within UzWaterAware project we will be able to attract the additional attention of all water consumers, in the broadest sense of the word, to the efficient and productive use of water resources”, UzWaterAware Project Manager Dr Jusipbek Kazbekov noted, “The project idea is to raise respectful attitude for water as the main source of life. That is why the mottos of the project are based on ‘khurmat’ (respect): ‘Respect each other – save water’, ‘Respect the neighbours – save water’, ‘Respect the future of the kids – save water’”.

The contest is held from March 22 until May 22, 2018, for all citizens of Uzbekistan at the age of 18 and above. The main aim of this contest is to attract the public attention to the issues of efficient and productive use of water resources for domestic and agricultural needs, as well as to involve talented youth and creative people (sculptors, artists, designers) into environmental topics.

The sketches or 3-D models of sculptures with a brief description and CV with contact information should be addressed to uzbekistan@carececo.org. As a result of the contest, the best works will be announced, and the authors will receive valuable prizes. Besides, organisers plan to make sculptures from winners' sketches to install them in Tashkent parks and parks of the Uzbekistan regional centres. Organisers will provide detailed information on the creation of winners' sculptures and their installation after the contest will end and the works will get valued.
