
The Government of Tajikistan, in partnership with the World Bank, the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC), and the Quadripartite Organizations for One Health ( the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) will host the Regional Conference on One Health for Pandemic Prevention, Food Systems Resilience, and Ecosystem Health in Central Asia on 29–31 October 2025 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
The event will mark the official launch of the Regional One Health Program, implemented jointly by the five countries of Central Asia and the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC). It aims to strengthen cooperation at the intersection of human, animal, and environmental health, with a focus on pandemic prevention, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and food safety.
The conference will also convene the first meeting of the Regional One Health Coordination Council (ROHCC) and present the newly established Regional One Health Coordination Structure (ROHCS). A Scientific Seminar on One Health in Central Asia will be held in parallel, bringing together researchers, policymakers, and international experts to share evidence and best practices for implementing the One Health approach in the region.
The Dushanbe meeting represents an important milestone in advancing regional collaboration, health security, and sustainable development through the One Health framework.
