As part of the implementation of the project “Catalyzing Nature-Positive Transformations in the Agricultural Sector of Turkmenistan to Enhance Climate Resilience (FSP)”(GEF-8/FAO), a working meeting was held with the Project’s Lead Technical Officer (LTO), Evetta Zenina, with the participation of representatives of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) Project Office in Turkmenistan and a group of national project experts.
The meeting was held in a hybrid format, bringing together participants both in person and online, and provided an important platform for discussing the current progress, ongoing activities, and next steps under the project’s work plan.
The implementation of the relevant project activities commenced in June 2026. Since then, work has been undertaken to establish part of the team of national experts, who have now started implementing the respective areas of work. During the meeting, the experts, led by Project Manager Mergen Kepbanov, with the participation of Project Coordinator Dovlet Jumagulyyev, presented an overview of the progress achieved to date and the main areas of their work.
The national experts shared updates on completed and ongoing activities and briefly presented their further plans in line with the project’s work plan. The discussion focused on priority tasks, expected results, and matters related to the coordination of further activities.
Particular attention was paid to ensuring effective cooperation between the Lead Technical Officer, the CAREC Project Office in Turkmenistan, and the national experts. This approach will facilitate timely monitoring of progress in each area of work, the exchange of information on results achieved, and, where necessary, the prompt coordination of further actions.
Following the meeting, it was agreed to continue holding regular working meetings, which will serve as an effective mechanism for monitoring the implementation of activities, assessing progress achieved, addressing current issues, and planning subsequent stages of work.
Regular coordination among all participants will help ensure the consistent implementation of the project’s work plan and contribute to achieving its objectives aimed at promoting nature-positive approaches and enhancing the resilience of Turkmenistan’s agricultural sector to climate change.
The meeting marked another important step towards strengthening cooperation between international and national experts and ensuring the coordinated implementation of the project’s planned activities.
