Representatives of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) told interested students of KIMEP University about CAREC's activities, demonstrated the results of project work and provided information about potential opportunities for volunteering and future internship opportunities within the organization.
“We were impressed by the enthusiasm of young research students for issues of regional cooperation, water diplomacy and climate change and many others in the Central Asia region and beyond,” - says Arailym Shulgauova, Executive Assistant of CAREC.
On February 29, 2024, CAREC staff members participated in an event titled “Career Day of the Faculty of Social Sciences” hosted by KIMEP University in Almaty, Kazakhstan. KIMEP University is one of the leading universities in Kazakhstan that prepares young professionals in the fields of economics, international relations, and public administration.
The main goal of the Career Day was to familiarize university students with partner organizations and companies, and potential employers, to understand the labor market, its trends, and career development paths in their specialty, and to find places for internships and future employment.
In turn, for CAREC it is particularly important to involve the younger generation in its activities and to transfer knowledge, best practices and international expertise to the youth. The students showed great interest in learning more about various CAREC environmental cooperation initiatives and dialogue platforms, such as the Central Asian Leadership Program (CALP), the Central Asian Climate Change Conference (CACCC), and the organization’s current projects.
As a vivid example of a successful career, one can mention KIMEP graduate Valeria Orlova, who is currently successfully working at CAREC as the manager of the Education for Sustainable Development program.
