New platform for regional cooperation – start of the 2nd module of the Leadership Programme
September 22, 2016, Almaty – The second module of the CALP with representatives of the ministries of foreign affairs and Central Asian parliamentarians has commenced today. Dr Abdullaev, the Executive Director of CAREC, welcomed the participants, highlighting the importance of this session:
«During the previous leadership programs over the past 6 years, CAREC’s position as a mediator of regional cooperation has become increasingly stronger. As the programme further developed, the need for enhancing interstate dialogue and collaboration has also increased. This new platform is therefore designed to recalibrate the cooperation among the Central Asian countries. »
The second module of the leadership programme is attended by ten representatives from the five republics. It will last for five consequent days, during which the participants will have exposure to lectures on water cooperation, water diplomacy, mediation, international water law and to examples of best practices and their application on those issues from around the world. The key speakers are international experts with worldwide reputation, who will demonstrate best practices in the field of environmental protection and management of the relevant programs and processes.
In addition, through interactive discussions the participants will contribute to the development of the roadmap for collaboration between CAREC and parliamentarians and representatives of the ministries of foreign affairs in Central Asia, which will certainly further strengthen the relations for sustainable development of the region in future.
