Dubai – UAE – The Central Asia Pavilion hosted the side event “Assessing and Addressing Climate Change Impacts in Central Asia: Challenges and Solutions” on December 8, 2023.

The event brought together experts on climate change, sustainable growth, sustainable education, energy, land, and agriculture

They discussed important views on the critical issue of climate change in Central Asia and Afghanistan.

Experts from the region as well as international experts from the Green Central Asia consortium presented an overview of the science of climate change, the implications for water resources, agriculture, ecosystems, and food systems, and provided important economic and social insights on the issue.

In his speech, Zafar Makhmudov, Executive Director of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC), emphasized that the CA Pavilion allows Central Asian countries to join efforts in tackling climate change issues. In his opinion, researchers in Central Asia should focus on the interconnectedness of the emerging trends, from ecosystems to socio-economic problems caused by climate change.

The event is organized by GIZ, DKU, and PIC with the participation of CAREC and Green Central Asia.
