Publication date: 26 October 2021

Central Asian countries are planning to make a united statement at the COP26. We recall that COP26 is the most important and high-level event in the world on climate change. This year, the 26th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change is organized by Great Britain and Italy. The event will be held from October 31 to November 12 at the Scottish Congress Center in Glasgow, Britain.

Kazakhstan plays an important role in bringing together the countries of Central Asia in combating climate change and increasing the ambition of the region's climate goals. As part of this work, the International Green Technologies and Investment Projects Center will hold a significant for the region event themed "Regional unity efforts to combat climate change", which will be held on November 2 in the pavilion of Central Asian countries on COP26. The pavilion itself is organized by the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia.

The importance of environmental problems and the climate agenda of the region were actively discussed at the conference of heads of environmental authorities of Central Asian countries held in September 2021 in the C5+1 format. The United States Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry participated in the meeting on mitigation and adaptation to climate change.

Over the past few years, Central Asia has been greatly affected by climate change and currently is facing environmental problems that affect all countries in the region. In this regard, Kazakhstan, represented by the International Green Technologies and Investment Projects Center, intends to invite the countries of Central Asia to join efforts to combat climate change on COP26. The Center notes the importance of the world community
