Publication date: 06 September 2018

Natalia Alexeeva, Team Leader for National Climate Change Action at FAO (earlier worked as a Head of UNEP office in Central Asia), presents the main findings of the two recent UN reports on global emissions and adaptation efforts and gaps. The UNEP Emissions Gap Report 2017 provides an assessment of current national mitigation efforts and the ambitions countries have presented in their Nationally Determined Contributions, which form the foundation of the Paris Agreement. The Adaptation Gap Report 2017 report focuses on issues relating to frameworks, comprising concepts, methodologies and data.

Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Program for Aral Sea Basin or CAMP4ASB is implemented by CAREC and financed by the World Bank. The project aims to enhance regionally coordinated access to improved climate change knowledge services for key stakeholders (e.g., policy makers, communities, and civil society) in participating Central Asian countries as well as to increased investments and capacity building that, combined, will address climate challenges common to these countries.CAMP4ASB is implemented in Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan during the period from 2016 to 2021.
