National meeting with representatives of ecological non-governmental organizations of the Republic of Kazakhstan

October 27, 2017, Astana, Kazakhstan national meeting with representatives of environmental non-governmental organizations was held. 

Participants of the meeting were presented by following organizations: «Mountain club «Zhabagly-Manas», Institute of ecology and sustainable development, Federation of organic agriculture movement of Kazakhstan – KAZFOAM, «International association of the women of East», «Angel», «EKOM», «Association of the Civil Alliance of East Kazakhstan», «Damu-Ulitay», «Center of coordination and information on environmental education «EcoObraz».

Participants discussed the role of NGO in development of the regional initiative for Environment for Central Asia (EfCA) process and establishment of the regional dialogue platform Central Asian environmental forum (CAEF). Also, results of research on activities of ecological NGO in Kazakhstan were discussed (link for the research report).

The main result of the Meeting is an agreement about Working Group formation in order to conduct following consultations in Kazakhstan on existing ecological problems, participation of NGO in their decision and the difficulties faced by ecological NGO. Results of the Meeting will be released in a paper for decision-makers and will be given to the appropriate authorities for further necessary steps.
