National Consultation Meeting with project partners of «Resource Efficiency in Agri-food Production and Processing (REAP)»


2 December 2020, Tashkent- REAP project is pleased to announce that the National consultation meeting on the project was conducted with representatives of local ministries, agencies and international organizations. 

The project is funded by the European Union "SWITCH Asia" programme, which supports countries’ pursuit to shift to sustainable “green” economy with low impact on the environment. The project will be implemented in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan and will support the introduction of sustainable production and consumption practices in the agricultural sector. The project will bring together knowledge and experience of 7 organizations from different countries of the world cooperating in the consortium*. 

The main purpose of the meeting was to inform national partners and other stakeholders about the project, as well as to discuss joint cooperation and coordination of the project activities in Uzbekistan, that will be implemented until March 2024.  Meeting participants will be presented with the main tasks for the project implementation in Uzbekistan, namely:

•              establishment of a project coordination group among interested stakeholders;

•              promotion of sustainable consumption and production (SCP) practices in agricultural production and processing throughout the supply chain;

•              capacity building of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) to identify and apply innovative solutions to the challenges of the scarcity of natural resources and build systems to integrate SCP practices and supply chains;

•              creating an enabling environment through sectorial clusters and incentives;

•              achieving national development strategies 

*Note: The project consortium includes Regional Environmental Centre of Central Asia (project coordinator), Adelphi Research gGmbH (Germany), AREC - Association for Promotion of Utilization and Environmental Protection in Austria, TERI - the Energy and Resources Institute of India, STENUM Asia Society for Sustainable Development (India), National Association of Small and Medium Enterprises of Tajikistan (NASMB)_ and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan (CCIU).
