Astana, Kazakhstan – 19 November 2025 – A working meeting was held at the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan between Batyr Mammedov, Executive Director of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC), Saule Sabieva, Director of the Climate Policy Department of the Ministry, and Yerlik Karazhan, Head of the Central Asia Project Office on Climate Change and Green Energy.
The participants discussed current areas of cooperation, key bilateral priorities, prospects for expanding partnerships, and new opportunities for advancing joint initiatives aimed at strengthening climate resilience and environmental security in the Central Asian countries.
During the meeting, special attention was given to coordinating joint efforts in preparation for the Central Asia Climate Change Conference (CACCC).
Since 2018, CACCC has been organized by CAREC in cooperation with national partners and donors to support the enhancement of regional dialogue on climate change and sustainable development in Central Asia.
The upcoming CACCC will be held in April next year as part of the Regional Ecological Summit 2026.
The Regional Ecological Summit 2026 was initiated by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and is designed to bring together the countries of Central Asia to develop joint solutions to combat climate change in partnership with the United Nations.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed mutual interest in further constructive engagement and their intention to deepen cooperation to achieve shared climate and environmental objectives.
