On November 29, 2017, a meeting with representatives of public organizations of Kyrgyzstan took place in Bishkek.
Participants discussed possibilities to join efforts of public organizations and CAREC in the region to put more attention to environmental issues in the region.
The discussion went around activities of CAREC branch in Kyrgyzstan for the last year, about "Environment for Central Asia" process and formation of regional dialogue platform - The Central Asian International Environmental Forum. Also, comments to working research report on activities of ecological public organizations in Kyrgyzstan were gathered.
Participants of discussion were presented by the following organizations: Ecological movement of Kyrgyzstan “Tabiat”, Youth environmental movement «MoveGreen», National Association of pasture users of Kyrgyzstan “Kyrgyz zhayiti”, Institute for sustainable development strategy, Public Association "EKOIS-Bishkek" (Environmental Information Service), Association of forestry and land users of Kyrgyzstan, Union of water users association of Kyrgyz Republic, Aarhus Center, “Rural Development fund” (RDF), Public fund “Drevo zhizni”.
Among results of the meetings are feedbacks from public organizations regarding current processes and initiatives in Central Asia, their willingness to cooperate on their promotion and readiness to discuss further activities to address environmental problems in the country.
This meeting was held in the run-up to the Central Asian International Environmental Forum (CAIEF). Next meeting with representatives of public ecological organizations will take place in the year 2018.
It is expected that at the upcoming meeting there will be a discussion and development of proposals from public organizations of Kyrgyzstan at the national level, which will then become part of the regional speech at CAEF-2018.
