As part of the “Resilient Landscape Restoration in the Kyrgyz Republic” (KG RESILAND) project, a Review of Financing Mechanisms for Addressing the Causes and Impacts of Debris Flows in Central Asia has been prepared.
The review covers Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan and examines existing financing mechanisms for measures aimed at preventing debris flows and mitigating their impacts, as well as responding to other natural disasters.
The document provides an overview of key financing sources, including national and local budgets, reserve funds, sectoral programs, public investment, grants, and funding from international organizations. It also explores opportunities in selected countries to expand financing for preventive measures and climate-related initiatives.
The findings of the review will contribute to the further development of the Investment Plan for the Regional Roadmap on Mitigating the Impacts of Transboundary Debris Flows and Floods.
