On October 6, 2025, a regional practical training on strengthening capacities in greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory development and policy assessment in the Land Use, Land-Use Change, and Forestry (LULUCF) sector was launched in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
The event is organized within the framework of the Regional Climate Action Transparency Hub for Central Asia (ReCATH) project, implemented by the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) with the support of the Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT) and with technical assistance from the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute (GHGMI).
The main objective of the training is to enhance the capacity of national experts from Central Asian countries in preparing GHG inventories and assessing climate policies in the LULUCF sector. From October 6 to 10, 2025, representatives from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan will learn methodologies for land-use monitoring, carbon flux accounting in forest and agricultural lands, and practical tools for quantifying the impact of policies and measures (PaMs) in the LULUCF sector.
The agenda includes technical sessions, hands-on exercises, and country presentations, where participants will share national experiences in inventory compilation, mitigation measures, and the implementation of nationally determined contributions (NDCs).
This training represents an important step towards improving the quality of national GHG inventories, strengthening regional cooperation, and building a pool of experts capable of supporting the implementation of Central Asian countries’ commitments under the Paris Agreement.
