In January 20024, within the framework of the USAID Regional Water and Environment Project, implemented in Turkmenistan by the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia, an online lecture on “Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment” was held for employees.
This lecture analyzed the role of gender equality and women's empowerment according to the standards of the USAID Gender Policy for 2023, the role of investments in gender equality and women's empowerment for human development and sustainable development, and how to apply it in the work of USAID programs.
Throughout the course, USAID staff described the following cases:
- Seven core principles that underpin USAID's commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment;
- Operational and programmatic requirements of the USAID Gender Policy;
- Experience in promoting gender equality in USAID international programs.
At the end of the training, participants passed a test on the material covered to receive a certificate from USAID for “Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment”.
