Final workshop in Ashgabad within the project on supporting Turkmenistan on developing national state of environment report in line with UNECE guidelines

In March 9, 2016 CAREC hold a final workshop in Ashgabad, Turkmenistan within the project on supporting Turkmenistan on developing national state of environment report in line with UNECE guidelines. The project is funded by Federal Office of the Environment (FOEN) and was conducted in the country together with the MONECA component of FLERMONECA project (Forest and biodiversity governance including environmental monitoring in Central Asia).

On the final workshop, several areas were introduced:

-   The results of CAREC work and projects in Turkmenistan and further directions within the presentation devoted to в рамках 15 years of CAREC

-      The results of work under two projects related to improvement of monitoring of the environment in the country

-    developed chapters of report on the environment on four themes: climate change, water resources, wastes and environmental management

It was also discussed the issues related to the preparation to Batumi Conference, whch will be organized to be held in June 2016.

At the workshop recommendations on systematization of process of data collection and performance of indicators on the related topics were developed by participants.

In addition, in March 10-11 in Ashgabad the training on four thematic fields is being conducting where issues related to UNECE indicators collection, formation and performance are considering and discussing. Examples of environmental  data collection in EECCA countries have been introducing  and recommendations to improve the processes for data formation in Turkmenistan is developing.

Representatives from State Statistics Committee, State committee on environment protection, Hyrdomet and non-governmental organizations are attending at the training.
