
The Director of the CAREC Project Office in Turkmenistan, Mergen Kepbanov, visited the Central Asian University of Environmental and Climate Change Studies (Green University) in the Republic of Uzbekistan, where he held a working meeting with the Rector of the University, Bahtiyor Pulatov.
The meeting was also attended by Nodirbek Rahimjonov, Director of the CAREC Country Office in Uzbekistan.
The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss prospects for cooperation in the fields of environmental education, capacity building of qualified specialists, and support for the youth of Central Asia in the area of sustainable development. The parties expressed their interest in developing a partnership aimed at expanding educational opportunities for young professionals across the region.

During the meeting, representatives of Green University presented the University's academic programmes and confirmed their readiness to develop cooperation with the CAREC Project Office in Turkmenistan. Under the agreements reached, the CAREC Project Office in Turkmenistan has been allocated six educational quotas for citizens of Turkmenistan: three for undergraduate programmes and three for master's degree programmes.
Green University is the first specialized university in Central Asia whose activities are entirely focused on training highly qualified specialists in the fields of environmental protection, climate change, sustainable development, and the green economy. All programmes are taught in English.
The University offers the following academic programmes:
1. Bachelor's Degree Programmes:

Law and Green Economy.
2. Master's Degree Programmes:

Environmental Law;

Sustainable Finance;

Sustainable Tourism.
Students who successfully pass the competitive selection process are awarded scholarships covering full tuition fees, accommodation in the student dormitory, and a monthly stipend.
According to Mergen Kepbanov, Director of the CAREC Project Office in Turkmenistan, the development of cooperation with Green University creates new opportunities for preparing specialists who will contribute to addressing environmental and climate challenges both in Turkmenistan and across the Central Asian region.

The launch of cooperation between the CAREC Project Office in Turkmenistan and Green University will make an important contribution to strengthening regional partnership in environmental education, preparing a new generation of specialists, and promoting the principles of sustainable development throughout Central Asia.
