Astana to Host 8th Central Asian Conference on Climate Change (CACCC-2026)

Publication date: 26 January 2026

From April 22 to 24, 2026, Astana, the Republic of Kazakhstan, will host the 8th Central Asian Conference on Climate Change (CACCC-2026) within the framework of the Regional Environmental Summit (RES-2026).

The Conference is organized by the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and international partners, under the theme: “Climate Leadership in Central Asia: A Partnership between Government and Business.”

CACCC-2026 will serve as the first major regional platform for dialogue following the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30) and will focus on supporting countries in the region as they transition from updated national climate commitments to practical climate action.

The CACCC-2026 programme is structured around four key thematic areas:

  • Climate Policy and Regional Cooperation – implementation of updated NDCs 3.0, the coordination of regional efforts, and joint preparation of Central Asian countries for COP31.
  • Adaptation and Climate Resilience – landscape restoration, climate risk management, and strengthening the resilience of ecosystems and communities.
  • Climate Change Mitigation – decarbonization, methane initiatives, and emission reductions in key economic sectors.
  • Climate Finance and Business Partnerships – mobilization of private capital, green financial instruments, and the development of regional investment platforms.

The Conference will bring together government representatives from Central Asian countries, international organizations, financial institutions, the private sector, academia, and civil society. CACCC-2026 will be held in a hybrid format, allowing for both in-person and online participation. Following each session, regional documents, roadmaps, and initiatives are expected to be agreed upon.
