CAWAMNET aims to identify "gaps" in scientific research related to climate change, water conflicts, and migration in Central Asia. The establishment of an international interdisciplinary network will serve as a starting point for discussing and understanding interdisciplinary issues related to climate migration and water resource management in the region.

Goal: Establishment of the interdisciplinary Regional Network CAWAMNET on Water Conflicts, Climate, and Migration.

Objectives:

  • Understand the causal relationship between water scarcity, water resource management regimes, and the emergence of conflicts in the target countries.

  • Identify promising research topics.

  • Determine the needs for policy measures and policy development at national and regional levels to support cooperation on water resources and security and to prevent climate-induced population migration in the region.

  • Organize a thematic seminar involving experts from the region and Europe.
