The project aimed to increase the understanding and knowledge among stakeholders and improve the capacity of policy-makers in mainstreaming ecosystem services into key development planning processes at national and sector levels.

Project’s events:

  • Build a network of national experts and policy maker involved in development planning and ecosystem services;

  • Review of the policy, legal, economic, environmental framework, including environmental data management, in the Republic of Kazakhstan;

  • Conduct a field study to identify key missing environmental indicators and to develop macroeconomic models / tools to mainstream ecosystem service consideration into development planning processes;

  • Build the capacities through trainings, workshops, policy dialogues and consultations with relevant stakeholders, including key policy-makers, NGO’s, media and the interested public;

  • Develop the ready-to-use legal, institutional and technical recommendations to mainstream ecosystem services considerations into key development planning processes;

  • Disseminate the project results and findings to a broad audience, including governmental organizations, civil society organizations, NGO`s and the private sector.

  • Recommendations in the process of economic analysis of the contribution of ecosystem services in the pilot area are  available here

  • Communication strategy is developed to promote the eco-system services in Kazakhstan and project results

  • The training on ecosystem services, introductory and closing project meetings held, the results and recommendations of the economic analysis presented to the key decision makers, certain further steps developed for the implementation of EU assessment methods
