DUSHANBE. On April 2, CAREC held a meeting with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Tajikistan Mr Ergash Shoismatov to discuss the scope of cooperation.
Particular focus was given to the II Central Asian International Environmental Forum (II CAIEF), which will be held in Tashkent on 5-8 of June 2018. It is the regional initiative of CAREC, focused on fostering environmental cooperation. In 2018 the event will be focused on “Strengthening Cooperation on Environment and Sustainable Development”.
During the meeting, parties exchanged views on the joint briefing in the lead of upcoming forum. Ambassador Shoismatov ensured all support of CAREC efforts aimed at strengthening environmental and water cooperation in Central Asia. “I stress my sincere gratitude to CAREC for such an initiative. We stay ready to provide any assistance in organising outreach briefing for Diplomatic Corp, International development partners and national stakeholders on the upcoming forum”, - added Mr Shoismatov.
In addition to discussion of the forthcoming forum, CAREC provided an annual report on the organisation’s work in 2017 and introduced main regional initiatives. Mr Shoismatov underlined that he is ready to support these initiatives and contribute to the strengthening diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
