
On July 3, 2025, a coordination meeting was held at the office of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) in Tashkent with the participation of representatives of the Caritas Switzerland–CAREC consortium and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in Uzbekistan — Mr. Andrin Fink and Mr. Shokhrukh Avazov.
The visit was organized within the framework of the project “Climate-Resilient Integrated Water Resources Management in the Zarafshan River Basin,” financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and implemented by the consortium of CAREC and Caritas Switzerland.
During the meeting, the following key topics were discussed:
- Overview of CAREC’s activities within the Zarafshan project, including joint visits to Tajikistan;
- Collaboration between Caritas Switzerland and CAREC, including the placement of the technical team at the CAREC office;
- Updates on the Eco/Blue School component and the planned learning journey to Switzerland;
- Coordination of an upcoming meeting between the CAREC Executive Director and representatives of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
Participants were also introduced to the operations and working conditions of the CAREC Country Office in Uzbekistan, located on the premises of the National Research University TIIAME.
As part of the visit, a separate meeting was held with the Rector of TIIAME University to discuss prospects for expanding cooperation and institutional collaboration between the parties.
The meeting concluded with a discussion on the next steps to ensure effective project implementation and to strengthen institutional partnerships.
